BIOGRAPHY

Heidi Scheuermann was born on April 14, 1971 in Burlington, Vermont. She grew up in the village of Stowe and attended Stowe public schools. Her father, Franz Peter, had an architectural firm. Her mother, Ann-Marie, served as a Stowe Town Auditor for many years, and eventually returned to her childhood love of the game of golf to become a teaching professional.

Upon graduating from Stowe High School in 1989, Heidi attended Saint Louis University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She then served for three years (1994 – 1997) in the United States Peace Corps, teaching English as a Second Language in Klodzko, Poland.

Upon her return to the United States, Heidi continued her career in public service in Washington, D.C., where she worked for Senator Jim Jeffords on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee. In this role, she helped draft education and disability legislation, in addition to that involving the arts and humanities.

She was then employed in government affairs at Capitol Strategies in Montpelier. At Capitol Strategies, she consulted for many organizations including the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, the Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems, the Association of Vermont Independent Colleges and Vermont Public Television. She assisted these organizations in bringing their thoughts and concerns to the Vermont General Assembly so that they would be addressed in legislation, and so that the legislation would, in fact, be good for Vermont.

Heidi returned to Senator Jeffords’ office in 2003 to serve as his liaison to the Vermont Legislature. With the implementation of significant federal legislation governing agriculture, economic development, education, the environment, health care, energy and transportation, she has worked with legislators of all parties to ensure they are kept up-to-date and informed of all developments, and are able to do what is needed at the state level to work with or improve the product of the federal government.

Since 2004, Heidi has served on the Stowe Select Board, has been its Chair and is currently its Vice-Chair. From the Town budget and capital project priorities, to the day-to-day activities of the Board, she has tackled the local issues eagerly and thoughtfully.

Heidi was first elected in 2006 to represent Stowe in the Vermont House of Representatives. She is currently in her second term.

Heidi is also owner of Allegro Property Management and Development in Stowe. She manages multi-unit family and senior housing in Stowe.
